 Often, when I walk into one of the homes we feature in Ventanas, I am awestruck. I see craftsmanship that is detailed and beautiful. I spot furniture and home décor items from all over the world. I find rooms that reflect the homeowner’s talents and desires. I know, from all the homes we feature, that they can be amazing and grand, but they can also be humble and touching. I also know the homes hold memories and heartaches and life and loss.
While I am always in awe of what makes a home, never have I been as touched as I was in the home of Shawn and Amy Stalls. The home, as stunning as it stands, was nothing compared to the story the couple shared. The children they loved, and lost, and the new hope that keeps them going day to day. Their story – “Rising out of the Ashes,” found on page 56 – and all the others highlighted in this edition, make me proud to be a part of Ventanas magazine, and honored to know each of the people we feature on these pages.
I hope you enjoy this edition as much as I enjoyed working on it, and I hope, in some way, it moves you beyond awe as it did me.
