Our floor plans and designs reflect the latest innovations, they are efficient and they are home-owner friendly. Feedback from the people involved with every aspect of our building business indicates that our experience and efforts are being funneled in the right direction.”
With a slogan of Built to Last, the company name, BIC, actually stands for Best in Class. “Of course, they are only words,” Sergio continues, “but our commitment is to make them a reality for every customer.”
Sergio understands commitment, because that is exactly how he built his business in El Paso. Born and raised in Colombia, he is a licensed architect in his home country but also earned an MBA in Finance and Economy from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. He returned to Colombia to be with his wife and daughter, but at that time, the economy of the nation was in a downward spiral following a drug-lord war similar to what Mexico is experiencing. He worked odd-jobs in Miami and then joined the U.S. Army to learn more English, to pay off student loans and because the Army agreed to move his family to be with him. Sergio was assigned to personnel services.
He came to El Paso as Managing Director of a construction company dealing with industrial and commercial real estate in El Paso and northern Mexico. He initiated his own company, a small home-building company, in 2002, adding a real estate arm to the company in
January 2009.
Sergio’s philosophy to enhance customer satisfaction consists of developing long-term trust, both internally and with everyone that deals with BIC. “We keep our communication channels open in every direction, honestly and candidly fostering a team spirit capable of building the best possible company. Everyone wins – the homeowner, the company, the suppliers, the sales people – everyone.”
“We are forward-looking,” Sergio continues, “and always searching for new trends and designs that work. Today, people prefer more open floor plans and so that is the direction our designs have taken. For sure, everyone is looking for affordability, and we are striving to achieve that.”
Sergio’s wife, Erika, has been a pillar for him from day one of this epic journey and somehow keeps pace with Juliana – 14, Sergio, III – six, and Mauricio, a five year old bundle of energy. “Erika is my strength,” Sergio unequivocally states.
“For the current market,” Sergio concludes, “BIC will continue including the latest homebuilder ideas in its designs and offer its houses at very competitive prices, presently in the range of $119,000 to $389,000.”
